Position group has been eaten up pretty much all season long

In the fall of 2023, John Ballein was promoted to Executive Associate AD/Chief Operating Officer. He has worked within Virginia Tech athletics since 1987. In 2024, Ballein has a listed salary of $234,003. He has overseen the actions of current Athletic Director Whit Babcock.

On January 24, 2014, Whit Babcock was formally named Virginia Tech’s director of athletics. In 2021, Babcock signed a five-year extension that is scheduled to keep him in Blacksburg through June of 2029. In 2024, Babcock has a listed salary of $1,043,848. Since 2014, Babcock has been responsible for the transition after the retirement of Frank Beamer (2015), leading to the hiring of Justin Fuente (2016) and Brent Pry (2021).

The results speak for themselves. It's time for a change. This isn't Virginia Tech football. Clean house, Drain Merryman.
